Sustainability & Ethics

At Jasmine Alexa, we are committed to making our garments to the highest quality without costing the earth and its people in the process.
Sustainability and ethics within the fashion industry is a responsibility that we must share together. Businesses like us, must play their part in offering customers a sustainable choice. Customers can play their part by putting their wallets with sustainable brands. At the forefront of Jasmine Alexa, we put people and planet. No one should be harmed our mistreated in the making or distribution of our garments, nor should our garments come at a cost to our planet in the process. That’s why we are committed to implementing sustainable and ethical practices across the business in order to reduce our impact on the environment and its people.

ECONYL® Regenerated Nylon

Currently, majority of our performance garments are made from revolutionary ECONYL® regenerated nylon The ECONYL® Regeneration System starts with rescuing waste otherwise polluting the earth , like fishing nets, fabric scraps, carpet flooring and industrial plastics all over the world. That waste is then sorted and cleaned to recover all of the nylon possible. Through a radical regeneration and purification process, the nylon waste is recycled right back to its original purity. That means ECONYL® regenerated nylon is exactly the same as fossil-based nylon and has the potential to be recycled infinitely, without ever losing its quality. The goal is that once all products containing ECONYL® are no longer useful to customers, they can go back into step one of the Regeneration System.

Knitwear

Not only is knitwear incredibly versatile , moulds to the body and allows for ease of movement - it more importantly allows us to minimise our waste created during production. Knitwear produces minimal yarn waste compared to traditional cut and sew garments which create significant fabric wastage. Before a garment is even created, over 30% of material used in manufacturing cut and sew garments end up as waste

Seasonless design

The traditional fashion cycle revolves around seasons, forcing brands to conform to a calendar and therefore churning out collection after collection, and producing styles that are bound to season and trends and therefore ‘expiring’ after only a couple months. All Jasmine Alexa collections are seasonless and designed to always mix & match with previous collections. Consider Jasmine Alexa an ever growing single collection. This allows for timeless design that is not bound to season or trends, but to garments that will last.

Organic Cotton

We are excited to have incorporated organic cotton into our range with the aim to only use organic cotton for our t-shirts, tanks and sweatshirts by 2021. Conventional cotton has one of the highest environmental impacts per kilogram of material. However, on the other hand, organic cotton only has a quarter of the impact and has a 60% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions. It is also grown as part of a balanced ecosystem, resulting in healthy soils and strengthened biodiversity, free from synthetic chemicals (fertilisers and pesticides) so not poisoning the earth and its farmers.

Made in Australia

We are proud to manufacturer majority of our garments right here in Melbourne. Since day 1, it has been a priority of ours to support the local industry and be very hands on with the manufacturing process which involves many steps. We are fortunate to be able to oversee each step of the process ensuring the highest quality in the make of our garments, whilst supporting the local industry and economy. In full transparency, there are some garments that we sadly cannot make locally due to the lack of specific machinery required to make those garments. In these instances, we work with only WRAP accredited or BSCI certified factories.

Compostable Packaging

It goes without saying the environmental impact that plastics and packaging waste is having. That’s why we use compostable packing developed by the world’s most sustainable packaging company, The Better Packaging Co, that consider the complete lifecycle impact of a product from raw material sourcing, right through to end-of-life disposal. So when you purchase from our online store, you should expect to see your order come in a compostable bag.

*Please note, is some very very few incidences this may not be possible due to the size of the garment.
